Roller Skating Basics: What to Wear & What Not to Wear

roller skatingRoller skating is an activity that’s fun for people of all ages. If you’ve never skated before, it’s important to wear the right clothes and review roller skating tips to ensure a great time!

To know exactly what to wear while roller skating, check out the following suggestions:

Wear Thick & High Socks

When you roller skate, it’s imperative that you wear socks. But wearing just any pair of socks won’t do the trick. You’ll want to choose socks that are thick and go above your ankles. This will prevent them from slipping down and causing blisters. If your skin is rubbing against the inside of the roller skates, blisters may form and roller skating would become painful.

Wear Comfortable Clothes

Girls, the right shirt and shorts can make you feel confident and comfortable while roller skating. Typically, when you roller skate you lean forward and bend your knees to help with your center of gravity. If you’re wearing a skirt or dress or clothing that’s too tight, you may not feel like you can skate with ease! Wear comfortable clothes that allow for plenty of movement.

Wear Protective Gear

If you’re new to roller skating and you’re wondering how to roller skate, one of the secrets is to wear protective gear! If you wear a helmet, kneepads, and elbow pads, you will avoid painful bruises and scrapes if a fall occurs. (You can even decorate your protective gear to make it look that much cooler!)
